Built to honor volunteer firefighter and inveterate gambler Lillie Hitchcock Coit, Coit Tower is a San Francisco landmark. Funding came from Lillie's bequest to the city.

Coit Tower is a real tower in the Telegraph Hill area of San Francisco. Also known as the Lillian Coit Memorial Tower, it's a 210-foot tower built out of reinforced concrete. It was originally built in 1933 using a bequest from Lillian Hitchcock Coit to beautify the city. As of 2008, it was on the National Register of Historic Places.
